Key Benefits
Detoxification Support
Daily exposure to pollutants, pesticides, and toxins is almost inevitable. Activated charcoal serves as a natural barrier against these substances, helping to keep your body’s systems functioning optimally despite exposure.
Promotes Clear Skin
Toxins and impurities in the body can contribute to skin issues like acne and inflammation. By detoxifying from the inside out, activated charcoal may help improve skin clarity, reduce breakouts, and promote a more radiant complexion.
Gut Health and Digestive Aid
Activated charcoal can help alleviate gas, bloating, and digestive discomfort by binding to the byproducts of food fermentation in the stomach and intestines. This makes it a useful daily supplement for those with sensitive stomachs or digestive issues.
Styptic Properties
Activated charcoal acts as a styptic, meaning it can help stop bleeding when applied to minor cuts and wounds. This makes it a handy natural remedy for first aid situations.
Supports the Liver and Kidneys
By aiding in the removal of toxins from the body, activated charcoal reduces the workload on the liver, kidneys, and spleen. This can be especially beneficial in modern times, where these organs are often taxed by exposure to environmental pollutants, processed foods, and chemicals.
Disinfectant and Antimicrobial
Activated charcoal also possesses disinfectant and antimicrobial properties, making it effective at inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria and pathogens. This property not only benefits digestive health but can also help in wound care and infection prevention.
Protection from Environmental Toxins
Daily exposure to pollutants, pesticides, and toxins is almost inevitable. Activated charcoal serves as a natural barrier against these substances, helping to keep your body’s systems functioning optimally despite exposure.
Treatment for poisoning
Activated charcoal is often and widely used to treat acute poisonings such as those from food or chemicals. Please keep some Kohlbitr capsules with you at all times.
While many activated charcoal products come in powder form, Kohlbitr comes in vegetarian capsules.
This allows for easy, convenient and clean ingestion without the powdery mess of making your own activated charcoal drink. Capsules also keep the product fresher longer and are safe and easy for transport and traveling.

Does activated charcoal interfere with medications or other supplements?
Contrary to popular belief, the idea that activated charcoal interferes or neutralizes healthy nutrients, minerals, vitamins, fat/oils, carbohydrates and/or protein has never been proven in research. Activated charcoal is able to selectively neutralize toxins without interfering with healthy digestion and metabolism via two scientific principles discovered so far: van der waal's forces and pi stacking.
Activated charcoal adsorbs toxins, metabolic waste products and artificial chemicals that can damage the body. Activated charcoal has been found to be safe for all ages. Start slow as activated charcoal is a binder and excessive use (initially) may lead to constipation.
Hospitals recommend that activated charcoal should be taken at least 2 hours apart from medication, as activated charcoal can neutralize medication when taken together. One may want to take activated charcoal on the opposite side of the day as medication.
Is there more to discover with activated charcoal?
With daily use, research suggests activated charcoal may promote kidney health, reduce flatulence, calm diarrhea and boost skin health. (1)
Researchers are actively exploring other potential benefits of activated charcoal as well, including treatment of indigestion, heavy bile flow during pregnancy and neutralizing the toxic effects of some anti-seizure medications. (2)
Dr. V. V. Frolkis, a famous Russian Gerontologist, and his colleagues discovered that activated charcoal is a potent life-extending agent. (3) Activated charcoal has been found to increase the mean lifespan of older test animals by 43% and their maximum lifespan by approximately 34%.
Activated charcoal decreases the age-related increase in the brain's sensitivity to drugs and toxins.
Activated charcoal normalizes cholesterol and lipid metabolism.
The regular use of activated charcoal improves the adaptive functioning of essential organs (the liver, kidneys, and adrenals). That translates into better defense mechanisms.

Abstract: Experiments were performed on Wistar male rats, starting from the 28th month of age. The effect of dietary sorbent (non coated nitrogen-containing carbon administered as 10 day courses at 1 month intervals in dosage of 10 ml/kg) on lifespan and a number of biological indices were studied. Enterosorption resulted in the increase of mean and maximal lifespan by 43 and 34% respectively. Analysis of the effect of enterosorption on activity of microsomal enzymes, intensity of total RNA and protein biosynthesis, lipid metabolism, formation of free radicals etc. showed that it produced a positive influence on the functional state of the studied systems and increased the organism's adaptive capacities. Enterosorption was found to delay the rate of onset of age-related structural changes in the organs and tissues.
